Your Graduate-visa runway: a realistic runway plan

The Graduate visa gives most graduates 2 years in the UK (3 for PhD holders) with no sponsorship requirement — which makes it the single best evidence-building window for a Global Talent application. A workable sequence:

Months 0–6 — map the route. Match your field to the right endorsing body (Tech Nation for digital technology, Arts Council England for arts and culture, the academies for science, engineering and research) and run a gap analysis of your profile against its published criteria.
Months 6–18 — build the evidence that is missing. Depending on the route: shipped products and open-source impact, publications and citations, exhibitions and press, conference talks, awards, mentoring and community leadership, letters from recognised leaders in your field.
Months 18–24 — assemble and apply. Curate the portfolio (quality over volume), secure recommendation letters, submit for endorsement while your Graduate visa is still comfortably valid — leave yourself at least a 6-month buffer.
